Araucaria Scholarship Programme

We have set up the Araucaria Project to support people from addiction into leadership. It is our intention to reach out to those people who are in recovery, who are ready to commit to the Pilamaya Yoga Teacher Training course, and who are sponsored by a MARK graduate.

The Araucaria Scholarship will part-fund four people per year, who are in sustained recovery from addiction, onto the Pilamaya Yoga 220 Hour Teacher Training Course – a Yoga Alliance Professionals accredited training programme.

Potential delegates must have been practicing yoga for two years and intend to teach yoga to others. We ask that all participants give at least 108 hours back to their sponsor or to a service in return for their training.

The Pilamaya Yoga 220 Hour Teacher Training cultivates self-responsibility, leadership, and heart-based yoga teachers. Shaura is the lead trainer and Gail supports the vision by teaching on the course, ensuring quality control, and overseeing the overall business development.

The Scholarship will cover more than 60% of the costs, with the remaining money being fundraised by the individual’s sponsor, in return for 108 voluntary hours in the recovery sector. The initiative is rooted in a compassionate desire to offer support from personal turmoil into recovery and leadership.

Pilamaya Yoga 220 Hour Teacher Training

The Pilamaya Yoga Teacher Training instils excellence in teaching that is rooted in compassion, sensitivity, and confidence. Our students leave this training with the ability to teach yoga with a deep understanding of multi-dimensional student needs and greater confidence in describing the physiological benefits of yoga to the general public and to medical professionals.

Pilamaya Yoga:

  • Teaches from across 8 schools of yoga to support students in finding their unique yoga signature
  • Explores the influence of yoga in the anatomy, physiology, neurophysiology and subtle energy systems of our bodies to empower our students with a comprehensive understanding of the practice
  • Aspires to help each student develop their consciousness and become a teacher of the heart-way through our exploration of how yogic philosophy translates to the Western mind
  • Shows students how to structure their own teaching with business development tools that instil excellence and leadership in the field
